When I was 10 years old my mother bought me to the zoo. I really excited back there, because it was my really first time to get the chance to go to the zoo. Which they have so many animal in the middle of Bangkok. This is the first zoo in Thailand plus they've open this zoo for over 80 years already with over 1600 species of domestic and international animals, including of 331 mammals,170 reptiles and 849 birds
The beginning of the zoo.
In the past Dusit zoo original name was call "KHAO DIN WANA" King Rama V during his foreign country visits become impressed of botanical garden as a place for relax and entertaining for the people, and so his majesty adviced that a botanical garden should be established in Thailand.
In 1895, His Majesty gave royal permission for the garden to be build on land east of premprachakorn canal, across from Chitrlada Palace. A large lake wa dug up with connecting canals and roads, dirt excavated from the digging was pile into a mountain in the middle of the garden that the reason why they called "Khao din"
- khao mean mountain
- Din mean soil or dirt
- together = earth mountain
Various trees were planted and called "wanna" which means forest. And so the whole area was called "KHAO DIN WANA"
At first the garden was part of the palace compound and used for the private enjoyment of the royal family and palace staff.Later during king Rama VII /'s reign,His Majesty advised that this garden should be expanded and improved for the enjoyment of the general public.
After Thailand changed from and absolute into a constitutional monarchy in 1932, Prime Minister P. Piboonsongkram asked royal permission of King Rama VIII, passed into law te designation of the areas of " Khao Din Wana", Sanam Sua Pa" and "Suan Umporn" into public park.

Throw the ball into the Basketball hoop
So after we finished watch Seal show ,We walk around the area see many animals. This is how it's looks.
After we walk half way and take the trim ride, We saw this statue .So i keep wondering what's so special about it and why this Schomburgk's deer statue is putting in front of the gate. So i go back to do some research and here the reason why.
And this is what happen,it's because of the Commercial production of rice for export began in the late-19th century in Thailand, leading to the loss of nearly all grassland and swamp areas on which this deer depended plus Intensive hunting pressure at the turn of the century restricted the species further until it became extinct. Because of over hunting in 1932, with the last captive individual being killed in 1938.The species was listed as extinct in the 2006.
So this is the reason why they put this deer statue, and why " the zoological park organization" using Schomburgk's deer as logo. The reasons because to remind people of wildlife conservation.
